About Us
Lollydandy is a little Western Australian business with big ideas. Lollydandy creates art and wares for the home that are inspirational, unique, utterly loveable and affordable. Lots of our pieces can be personalised and pretty much anything is possible. It’s art without the gallery price tag.
Lollydandy is the brainchild of Saffron Solomon, a Western Australian who studied art history for four years before branching into design, marketing and communications. Saffron couldn’t find well designed, high quality art for her walls that was affordable and accessible, so she started making it.
Two babies (and an uber-supportive husband) later, she came to the realisation that most art for children’s rooms was either disturbingly bland or distressingly expensive, and the children’s line was also born.
Saffron attributes the birth of Lollydandy to living in too many vibrant and crazy countries, her love of kitsch, her very creative mother who made Saffron sew her own felt Christmas decoration when she was three, and the life altering realisation that gallery shops were usually far more interesting than the galleries themselves.
It’s a question of belief. Lollydandy believes;
- Art makes life better.
- Glamour and luxury don’t have to come at a price that matches.
- Art distils and perfectly preserves for us the fleeting mysteries, beauties and wonders of life.
- Without art, the world only reveals itself in glimpses that flutter by and disappear forever.
- The words ‘baroque’ and ‘kitsch’ should be in every sentence. The only time we will use the word ‘minimalist’ is in this sentence.
- Making people laugh or smile is essential, and if we can’t do that, we believe in at least feeding them.
- Small companies should be allowed to dream big.
- Our art will make you wittier and more attractive.
- Lofty drama should be found in the most unexpected of places, such as the bathroom.
- Giving those less fortunate than ourselves a helping hand in life should be second nature.
- Gift wrapping is as important as the present inside.
- Using other people’s homes for our photo shoots is far more preferable than using our own (which are never quite that clean or organized).
- Art makes life better.
